Tired Helper

After a full day of lifting, carrying, packing, toting, fetching, dumping, shifting, emptying, stacking, driving and moving, Sarah was completely worn out.

So were the rest of us!

Who wants to play with Sarah in her new summer playhouse in the basement?

Sarah is Seven

Sarah is a sweet, talented, loving, athletic, smart, beautiful, giving, sassy girl and we're so glad she's in our family.

Every day is an adventure for this girl, who hates to sit still. She loves animals, babies, riding her bike, hugs and kisses, and school.

She adores her friends, sports, being outdoors, her trampoline, drawing, jewelry, fancy shoes and dresses.

Happy Birthday Sweet Sarah!

My Daughter Grows Up

Life is fleeting, years rush past, and little girls grow up so fast.
And though I'm busy through the day, let me take time out to play.
Let me take time out to smile, to linger with her for a while.
To invite her under the table for tea, and dress up silly as can be.
Let me take time out to sing, and dance and skip and twirl and swing.
To splash in puddles when it rains, and make her fancy daisy chains.
Let me take time out to hear, about the things that she holds dear.
Let me tuck her in at night, hear her prayers, turn off the light.
And for one more moment let me pray, and thank God that we share each day!

Happy Birthday!

Loving Letters

Here's a little note I found that is too cute!
"I am going to my grandmas and I will give them a picture and the cards and I will play with Will. and we can put the big bed out. I hope we can have chocolate milk and I will have a dinosaure puppet. I will give her a hug. Grandmas and grandpas are fun!

Body and Spirit

Sarah has been taking tumbling for more than a year now and she loves to do cartwheels, handstands, backbends and so forth. Yesterday, she called me in from the kitchen and said, "Look at me, I'm relaxing." Then she closed her eyes and chanted, "Oooohhhhhmmmmm."

Here she is in her new spring dress. She had the hardest time deciding between all the options at the store. They were all so pretty, but in the end she picked the brightest, pinkest dress. Pretty in pink!

Christmas Bling

Hi! This is Sarah. I got my ears pierced. I sat in a chair. Then they had some clippy things. Then I choosed the earrings I wanted. They are light blue diamonds. It hurt bad. Um, I didn't have fun but now I love my ears pierced. Love Sarah!

Christmas Concerts

We had Christmas music aplenty with two concerts in one night. We're so proud of our talented girls!

Sarah is sitting fourth from the left on the back row. Isn't she a cutie?

Human Pumpkin

My very own Halloween jack-o-lantern.

Brought to you by a very traumatic, bloody, recess incident in which I had to pull the second one out at the nurse's office.

But, doesn't she look cute?

She Will, She Will Rock You

Sarah loves the song "We Will Rock You" by Queen, but she changed the lyrics a little to reflect her aversion to anything mean:

"...You got flowers on your face,

Your big, nice face,

Spreading your joy all over the place..."

Rock on, little sister!

Reflections

It's "Reflections" time again, so it means exploring all kinds of art projects.

Will decided to do a plaster mask. Here we are waiting for it to set up.

He then painted it. I did not capture it on camera before taking it to school, but I'll do it when it comes back.

Sarah loves all jewelry, so making paper beads is right up her alley. A great project for 5-7 year olds. Her final necklace was a mix of paper beads, real beads and a handmade pendant of beads and wire. Again, I didn't get a picture before it went to school. Yes, I'm a bad picture mom, but I'm an OK "Reflections" mom...

Pink Pirates

This was at 11:00 a.m. when she was waiting for her friends to arrive for her 3:00 p.m. party.

To pass the time, she helped decorate the treasure chest cake.

This is the party in full swing, with balloon games galore.

The pink pirates made beaded necklaces. We also did a puppet parrot craft.

Thanks to MAK for coming all the way up. Eli was the hit of the party and clapped and laughed at every activity.

The pink pirate captain surveys her loot.

First you get the hair wet.

Then you wrap it up in rag strips.

Sleep in rag curls overnight.

Serau 2.0

Now she's moved completely from Serau to Stella! She thinks its the most beautiful name in the world and insists that we call her that. She's now signing her name this way on her papers.

Serau

Is this a sign of genius or something else altogether?

Sarah has decided that her name is spelled wrong. Lately she's been writing it as S-E-R-A-U, stating that's how her real name is spelled. When she sounds out her name, those are the letters that best represent the sounds. SEH = S-E; RUH = R-A-U. If we said SARAH with a more British accent (SAAH-RAAHH), then the proper spelling makes sense, right? But with the way we pronounce it, she has a point.

How would your "real" name be spelled? How about "WILYUM" and "ABIGAYL." Or "JENAFUR" and "JAYSUN."
